AOSP Sensors, 2018
sound sculpture: Nexus S (crespo)
software: Android SDK 18, Pure Data

AOSP Sensors generates sound by attuning to its surroundings. Information about ambient light, position, temperature, and other aspects of the device’s situation is monitored in real-time. The piece uses this data to manipulate sound sampled from the environment. In this way, AOSP Sensors demonstrates faculty for aesthetic perception, entrainment/entertainment of the senses, and maybe even self-awareness.

AOSP Sensors shows at arc·hive artist run centre (2516 Bridge St.) 24-26 August 2018 as part of Integrate Arts Festival.

arc·hive is located on the unceded territories of the Esquimalt and Songhees peoples of the W̱SÁNEĆ Nation.
